Michael Hardy Charity Work

Michael Hardy Charity Work

Each year Michael Hardy raises funds for various local, national and international charities and over the years we have raised funds and provided support for many needy causes including John Radcliff Hospital, Cancer Research, Macmillan, Samaritans and the Médecins sans Frontieres.

In these times of austerity it is sometimes easy to cut back but we have managed to sustain our level of commitment to all the charities with whom we have a long term relationship. There is always someone who could do with a little help so each year Michael Hardy tries to choose a new charity to support.

Michael Hardy Walkers

Michael Hardy Walkers

They have soaked their feet and plastered their blisters, but they did it! In just over 5hrs, The Michael Hardy Walkers paced 25km along the Thames tow path from Cookham to Henley, meeting some lovely people along the way. A fantastic effort was made by everyone on the team: Trish, Kate, Denise, Helena, Caroline, Helen and Kirsty. It was a challenge they were determined to complete in order to raise as much money as they could for a local charity close to all ours hearts, The Ollie Young Foundation, a UK registered charity which seeks to fund targeted paediatric brain tumour research and support.

Walk the Walk - Uniting Against Breast Cancer

With smiles on their faces and a great sense of achievement, Denise and Kate completed the 26.2 mile London Full MoonWalk raising money for breast cancer. The MoonWalk London may be walking, but should not be underestimated, like any challenge it does need preparation and our wonderful ladies spent weeks training for the event.

Macmillan

Macmillan

Helen from our Lettings Team completed the Bournemouth Half Marathon raising much needed funds for Macmillan Cancer. Michael Hardy sponsored Helen by matching whatever she raised in sponsorship monies. For support, information or if you just want to chat, call them free on 0808 808 00 00 or visit macmillan.org.uk.

Samaritans

Samaritans

They can be contacted 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Phone them free on 116 123 from any landline or mobile network.

Ollie Young Foundation

Ollie Young Foundation

The Ollie Young Foundation is a UK registered charity which seeks to fund targeted paediatric brain tumour research and support. There ultimate aim is to find a cure or prevention from this awful disease that affects so many children and families. With over 120 different types of brain tumour, it is the biggest cancer killer of children. Via targeted research they seek to increase patient life expectancy, improve quality of life and, ultimately, to save lives.

 Alzheimer’s

Alzheimer’s

Always keen to support a charity event, this year our Lettings Valuer Helen has been out again, this time raising money for Alzheimer’s. Along with her friend Clive, whose mother suffers from the condition, have raised more than £1,600. Over the period of a week Clive walked the Thames Tow Path, approx. 180 miles, with Helen joining him for the 34 mile stretch from Reading to Windsor. Well done guys!

Médecins sans Frontieres

Médecins sans Frontieres

Over the past few years we have paid in excess of £5,000 towards Médecins sans Frontieres. As the name suggests this is a charity sponsoring doctors and nurses to go to the most dangerous and deprived places in the world to offer medical assistance, if the environment is inhospitable and people are in trouble, more than likely you will find a Médecin Sans Frontieres tent right in the middle of the trouble.

Over the past 10 years our Managing Director has regularly run Half Marathons for good causes raising £15,000 for Cancer research. The first run was because a friend was diagnosed with testicular cancer and he and Neal had an agreement that if Neal did the run he had to be at the finishing line to see him across it. Neal made the finishing line but sadly his good friend lost his battle. Such things are a spur for even the most hard hearted and Neal will always look upon this first run as his most important.
