Sindlesham is a village in the borough of Wokingham, located around 4 miles southeast of Reading and around 2 miles west of the town of Wokingham. The area is peppered with a mixture of newer properties and delightful Walter Cottages which date back to the 1800s. The name Walter comes from the renowned Walter family who owned much of the land in the area at the time and helped shape the area as we know it today. They were the original founders of The Times newspaper and built the impressive Jacobean style Bearwood Mansion which is now home to the private secondary school Reddam House. This area of Sindlesham also boasts Bearwood Lakes Golf Club, which is in the top 60 Golf Courses in the UK, the well-known Nirvana Spa and Health Club in addition to the Wokingham Tennis and Cricket Clubs which were relocated to fantastic new facilities in Sadlers Lane in 2012. Dating back to the 19th century, the local public house, The Walter Arms is a welcoming pub in the heart of Sindlesham village.
